Transcription Services Update

Lower Mainland Health Information Management (HIM) is in the midst of procuring an external firm to provide transcription technology and labour services for the Lower Mainland.

The Transcription Services Project will enable us to replace aging systems with a web-based application hosted by the vendor.  The project will improve transcription service delivery and yield significant savings that can be redirected to patient care.

In mid July, HIM will begin negotiating with a preferred proponent and developing a transition plan for the deployment.  HIM will provide subsequent updates in the fall as the project unfolds.  We expect to have a contract with the vendor in place by September and begin implementation in October.  We anticipate that the implementation across the Lower Mainland will take place over a 12-18 month period.

Presentations and communications to physicians via the Medical Advisory Committee have been underway.
