St. Paul's Hospital Seismic Upgrade Presentation

As we move forward with our current round of organizational strategic planning, infrastructure redevelopment continues to be a key strategic direction for PHC.

As part of the Heritage Vancouver lecture series, John Sherstobitoff, structural engineer with Ausenco Sandwell, will be making a presentation:

When: Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 7:00 PM
Where:
 Hurlburt Auditorium, St. Paul's Hospital

St. Paul's Hospital will see significant expansion and renovation over the coming years. This presentation will outline options being considered for the seismic upgrade of the existing structures. For the historic Burrard buildings a “conventional” solution of concrete shear walls will be assessed against an “innovative” base isolation option. For the Providence buildings “internal” and “external” upgrade options which may incorporate viscous dampers will be compared. Animations of building performance, fundamentals of base isolation and dampening systems, constructability of solutions and examples of similar applications will be presented.
