Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research Awards

The Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research has funded five members of Providence's BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS (BC-CfE) with research scholar awards, allowing them to establish or build research programs.

The recipients, selected from a highly competitive pool of more than 90 applicants represent the leading edge of health research in BC.

The award winners are:

2012 Career Investigator Award - Biomedical

Zabrina Brumme - HIV adaptation to immune selection pressures: historic trends and future implications

2012 Career Investigator Award - Health Services

David Moore - Effects of antiretroviral therapy (ART) program design on the HIV epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa

Bohdan Nosyk - Health economic evaluation to inform strategies for HIV treatment and prevention

2012 Career Investigator Award - Population Health

- HIV risk environments among illicit drug users: A longitudinal ethno-spatial approach

Viviane Lima - Operations research applied to assess different strategies to reduce the public health and economic burdens of HIV/AIDS in British Columbia
