Paperless results distribution comes one step closer as Excelleris gets set to distribute the next round of HIM and Labs reports and results in July and August; deadline to apply for one-time funding for EMRs through PITO ends on Sept. 30, 2013.
A new set of reports and results will be distributed to community-based providers via Excelleris this summer, beginning with Health Information Management transcribed reports from a number of FHA sites on July 24th.
During the week of August 25th, Excelleris will begin distributing results from PHSA, VCH, PHC, and FHA labs. All results previously distributed by Medinet will be distributed instead by Excelleris as of this date.
Lower Mainland Labs, Health Information Management, and Medical Imaging are committed to achieving paperless (i.e. fully electronic) results reporting by the end of 2014.
If you are not currently using an electronic medical record (EMR) in your practice, the Physician Information Technology Office (PITO) offers one-time funding for EMR adoption plus ongoing implementation and optimization support. The deadline to apply for this funding is September 30, 2013. Any physician not already on EMR and considering implementation should apply by Sept. 30th to reserve a funding space.
More timely and accurate delivery of results and reports using electronic channels will significantly enhance the quality of care our patients receive.
Lab results for clinicians using an EMR or Excelleris Launchpad will come directly into their EMR or Launchpad email box. Clinicians that do not use an EMR or Launchpad will continue to receive results via fax or mail until we complete the transition from paper to electronic distribution methods.
Transcribed reports will be available electronically via EMR (if the EMR is currently capable of re-ceiving these reports – please contact your EMR vendor for details) or Excelleris LaunchPad. Clini-cians who do not use an EMR or Launchpad, or whose EMR does not yet receive these reports, will continue to receive them via fax or mail. There will be no change to the content of the reports, although they will look different and display the Excelleris logo.
You will not experience a service interruption as a result of these changes.

Reducing our environmental impact
Using less paper in the delivery of patient results will contribute significantly to HA environmental objectives by protecting our forests and reducing overall carbon emissions. Our goal is to have 90% of all reports distributed electronically, direct to clinician electronic medical records (EMRs), by 2015.
If you’re currently using fax or mail, Excelleris Launchpad is an excellent way to begin receiving results directly to an electronic mailbox in your office.
