Have you had trouble viewing external websites from your desktop?

Google Chrome Portable has now been provided to all PHC user profiles so you are able to view all websites properly.

At PHC our key clinical and business application such as PCIS, SoftMed, and PHC Connect, need Internet Explorer 6 to function and/or display correctly. However, many current websites no longer work properly on IE6. The addition of Google Chrome Portable provides you with a secure, secondary browser to access these websites without compromising IE6 and all the critical applications that run off of it.

Google Chrome is a fast, simple, and secure open-source web browser that was built for the modern web. Released in 2008, it has grown to be the most popular browser today. Google Chrome Portable is a network—or shared—version of this application.

You should be aware that Google Chrome Portable has some limitations. Because it’s a shared application, bookmarks, cache, website history and other settings will be lost when the browser is closed down. It will also take slightly longer to load than IE6.

You’ll find the icon to launch Google Chrome Portable in the VCH-PHC Applications folder on your desktop. Click here for information about how to use it as well as Frequently Asked Questions.

If you have any technical difficulties with the application, contact the Service Desk.
