Changes to UBC Library at St. Paul's Hospital

As of May 1, UBC Library’s services at St. Paul’s Hospital are changing. The SPH library space will continue to be operated by the UBC Faculty of Medicine and will be accessible to UBC faculty and students for research and study.

For the short term, physical access to the space can only be done by calling Paladin Security (please dial 4777 inter-hospital). A longer-term solution for easier access (e.g. card-reader access) is being looked at.

Non-UBC-appointed hospital staff can continue to use their SPH Library Card (Affiliated Staff Card) or apply for a new card  by visiting the Biomedical Branch Library (Diamond Health Care Centre, 2775 Laurel Street) or Woodward Library (2198 Health Sciences Mall).

The Affiliated Staff Card provides access to free Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan Services, but it does not provide access to online resources such as e-journals or e-books.

UBC Library materials, such as books and print journals, can be returned to the Biomedical Branch Library, Woodward Library, or any other UBC library branch on campus.

Please reference the announcement posted on the UBC website (http://about.library.ubc.ca/2013/05/01/changes-to-hospital-libraries-effective-may-1).

UBC faculty, staff and students can direct further questions or comments about the hospital library branches to Linda Ong, Director, Communications and Marketing at UBC Library at library.communications@ubc.ca.

Non-UBC-affiliated hospital staff may contact Jana Ogdenova, Medical Education, at 604.806.8465 or Email: jogdenova@providencehealth.bc.ca if you have questions and concerns.
