This series is an opportunity to educate the public on the difference St. Paul's Hospital, Providence Health Care and our caregivers are making in the lives of patients from across B.C. The series will begin April 12th , 2012 with three Province reporters and three photographers covering a day in the life of St. Paul's. The Province team is the same one that produced the 2010 award-winning Operation Phoenix series about Vancouverís Downtown Eastside. Grouped in teams of two, each team will spend an eight-hour section of the day covering the hospital for a total of 24-hours. Throughout the day, the team will visit the entirety of the hospital, from the Maternity Department to the basement and everything in between.
A media relations/communications representative from PHC or SPHF and a clinical representative will accompany the Province reporters at all times to facilitate the needs of the reporters and to address any questions from St. Paul's patients, staff, physicians and others.
PHC has committed to providing The Province reporters with behind-the-scenes access throughout the hospital. However, we will be working with staff to ensure media relations activities do not disrupt the provision of care at the hospital and that patient privacy and confidentiality will be respected at all times.
This initiative has been approved by PHC's Senior Leadership. We appreciate your support and look forward to working through the details of this exciting project with you.
