Announcing Acting VP Research & Academic Affairs

Dr. Yvonne Lefebvre is retiring from her role as PHC VP Research and Academic Affairs after a stellar career in research and research administration. She leaves us with a strong reputation for the integration within PHC of care, research and teaching, a highly engaged and committed research team and PHC Research Institute, and strong relationships with UBC and all of our academic and research partners. We wish her well as she pursues life in her new home, delves into further studies and stays connected to her research and academic colleagues.

PHC, PHCRI and UBC are working together with the recruitment firm of Odgers Berndtson on a recruitment process for a full time replacement. www.odgersberndtson.ca

In the interim, I am pleased to announce that Dr Peter Paré will assume responsibility as Acting VP Research effective Oct 1, 2012. Responsibilities have been prioritized to allow Peter to focus on key components of the portfolio while assigning 40% of his work time to the VP role and the remaining time to continuing his current research activities.

Peter is a professor of respiratory medicine and pathology at UBC and a clinician scientist at SPH and the UBC James Hogg Research Centre. His medical degree is from McGill University. He is highly respected for his research, teaching and publications. Click here for Dr. Paré's bio with details of his education and accomplishments.

For matters related to the role of VP Research and Academic Affairs and PHCRI, please contact Dr. Paré via his assistant Gail DiBernardo at (604) 806-9608 or gdibernardo@providencehealth.bc.ca
